ABOUT ME

Honoring my love for writing, I opened this space to offer storytelling and a unique perspective as a indigenous woman pursuing my dream of becoming a physician and sharing my reflections throughout this journey. Welcome.

My story

I started school in August 2014 with high hopes of applying to medical school immediately after a four-year timeline. However, I struggled with a few prerequisite courses during my second and third year of college while houseless and experiencing financial instability. My dream of becoming a doctor initially diminished. After working a few extra jobs, and focusing only on my major with no pre-medical courses, I graduated in December 2018. Immediately after graduation, I landed my first job. When COVID-19 negatively impacted my tribe and after a few personal experiences with a family member’s health, I realized that my passion for medicine was still there. In June 2020, I decided it was time to go back to school. By August 2020, I was sitting at home with my laptop in the middle of a pandemic beginning my courses. At the beginning of August 2022, I completed my prerequisite courses. During the fall of 2023, I started a master’s program. In spring 2024, I graduated with my master’s degree. I am currently in medical school and documenting my journey.
